Sunshine Automotive is a member of the family-owned, Peter Warren Automotive which is based in Sydney NSW. Peter Warren Automotive commenced operations in 1957 as a Volkswagon franchise and has grown to be one of the largest organisations within the motor vehicle industry. They now operate several dealerships in NSW located at Warwick Farm, Smithfield, Narellan, and Campbelltown. Franchises now include Ford, Suzuki, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Kia, Honda, Volvo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Peugeot and Renault. The group now employs over 500 personnel throughout NSW and QLD.

In April 1989, The Sunshine Automotive purchased the former operations of Trio Ford located on the corner of Nerang and Rawlins Streets in Southport, and commenced trading on those premises as Sunshine Ford and Daihatsu on May 1, 1989.

As a commitment to the motor vehicle industry, The Sunshine Group Pty Ltd invested over six million dollars in the new Ford and Daihatsu franchise and plans were made to relocate to 292 Nerang Road, Southport.
